Netflix have gone and done it again! They have just dropped another brilliant and addictive TV show – The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! If like me you binged-watched the whole thing (don’t judge my Netflix addiction please), congratulations on the best decision you’ve made in your life. However if you’re still wondering whether to give it a chance, let me convince you with 5 reasons why you should watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!

A quick overview – Kimmy is one of the four women saved from a doomsday cult, where they were trapped underground for fifteen years. At twenty-nine years old, Kimmy is captured and set free to learn to live her life as an adult, in New York City.

 

1. The awesome awesome awesome theme tune!

I kid you not when I say the theme tune is probably in my top 3 best TV openings of all time! The catchy song (written by Tina Fey’s husband Jeff Richmond!!) perfectly reflects the show’s weirdness and you just can’t stop yourself smiling while listening to it!

2. It’s written by the wonderful Tina Fey!

Seriously, can you expect any less from the woman that brought the amazing Liz Lemon to life on the 30 Rock? Heck I would happily read that woman’s shopping list! Her sense of humour and smart writing certainly comes across on the show, with some brilliant one liners that will have you laughing out loud and hitting the next episode button.

3. Strong female lead!

You just can’t help but fall in love with Kimmy, even after everything she has been through, Kimmy chooses to stay positive and embrace life. She refuses to be the victim and doesn’t let anything get her down. If that ain’t inspirational then I don’t know what is!

Also Kimmy is a great friend! She is always there to listen and give them the extra push they need to achieve their dreams, always encouraging them to never give up. Despite being slightly naïve and always seeing the good in everyone, Kimmy sure doesn’t take any crap and knows how to stand up for herself.

Besides I am sure Kimmy is everyone’s spirit animal! From her brightly coloured clothes and sparkly shoes to her serious girl power! How can you not love her?

4. New York City

I just LOVE shows set in New York City (Years later and I still terribly miss Sex & the City!). The New York-ness of it all makes everything that much more exciting!

5. The cast

With an awesome female lead comes an awesome cast! There’s 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowki perfectly playing the role of the elite Manhattan mother and Kimmy’s employer, along with Kimmy’s room-mate, the wannabe musical theatre star Tituss, played by the adorable Tituss Burgess. Mark my words when I say, the cast will instantly win you over!

Mean Girls Reunion to awesome up your day!

Mean Girls fans rejoice!

Can we please take a moment to appreciate this awesome awesome awesome ten year reunion!!

Entertainment Weekly gathered the cast for their reunion issue and my brain is going to EXPLODE with all this awesomeness!The ladies Tina Fey, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfield look absolutely stunning!

Ten years! Ten years guys! For ten years we've been quoting the movie! Still to this day it is one of my favourite movies! What is not to love?! NOTHING BECAUSE IT IS SO FETCH!

Here are some highlights from the interview:

Lindsay tried explaining her ‘beef’ with Hilary Duff to Tina Fey & Amy Poehler

Oh to be a fly on that wall!

 “There was one day where [Lindsay] tried to explain to Amy [Poehler] and me her beef with Hilary Duff, but we couldn’t crack it,” the glorious Tina Fey recalls. “But we were pretending we could follow it.” 

Pink uggs for Pink Wednesdays

'On Wednesdays, we wear pink' and so Lindsay was determined to find pink uggs for that garbage scene, as she recalls,  "I had been online trying to get pink Uggs because I had a pink pleated skirt in the scene where I fall into the garbage can. I was like, 'I need pink Uggs!”

We remember the lines better than the cast guys!

McAdams recalls a time a fan approached her with a favour, "I was staying at a bed-and-breakfast recently in the-middle-of-nowhere Ireland. And one of the owners' granddaughters came up to me, and she gave me a piece of pink paper and she goes, 'Can you write down just a few of your favorite Mean Girls quotes?' It was so sweet," she explained. "I couldn't think of any of them! It's been 10 years! So I said, 'Well, what are your favorites?' So she literally fed me all these lines, like 'Is butter a carb?'"

I absolutely LOVE this reunion! Mean Girls forever!
